Ashirvad Rehabilitation Center

Pavitrathma province is blessed with a new scope of service as the adoration congregation celebrated her centenary year. On 8 March 2008 Mar Simon Stock Palathara CMI blessed and inaugurated Ashirvad rehabilitation centre for mentally ill women. The new venture taken by the province is a ray of hope for mentally unsound women who wander in the streets of Bastar. Well experienced Psychiatric nurses look after the patients. The mentally ill women are brought by the local police. The specialist from the district hospital visits the patients every month and provides regular check up and treatment. We could see the improvement in the mental status of the inmates. Patients are substantially taught to lead a hygienic life, to pray and lead a devout life, to do all their manual works, to appreciate doing charity work for each other, to labour in the kitchen garden, to look after the domestic animals, to stitch cloths, to read and write etc. It is highly remarkable to note that they lead a contented and happy life in the institution. At present the institution has grown to its maximum capacity of 40 members.
